Lake Crescent & Marymere Falls
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of hopping in my car in the dark dawn, hot coffee in hand, and driving three hours to the peninsula. As the sun rose I watched the fog tickle the evergreen forests and quietly worried that the views of today's elopement would be obstructed. Droplets of rain fell on my windshield as my murder mystery podcast began its fourth episode. As I approached Lake Crescent, the day revealed itself; a technically dry spring day, but there was an undeniable mist to the air. Sun hid behind dramatic dark clouds threaded by fog, and once in a while flashed its rays.
The ceremony took place on Storm King dock, floating over crisp clear deep turquoise water and enveloped by steep evergreen-covered hills on all sides. Madison, forgetting her mic was hot, exclaimed mid-ceremony "there's a duck!" as a lone beauty lazily floated by. In a move of complete uniqueness, Madison recited her vows in her husband's native Indian language which was a beautiful and heartfelt surprise. Lokesh pondered how and when in the world she had time to learn that. May they continue to surprise each other with their devotion for years to come (sobs)!
Moments in Time Trail
Next we moved on to the appropriately named Moments in Time trail - a shock of green, moss covering every surface and layers of ferns in every direction. Here we captured portraits of Madison and Lokesh with their family and friends. The wedding party's jewel toned outfits against the rainforest gave a vibe of a kingdom of forest royalty.
Marymere Falls
After all of the excitement, I personally slammed a piece of pizza I had waiting in my car and chugged some water. I reconvened with Madison and Lokesh for a flat and short stroll to Marymere Falls. I sensed it was a welcome moment of calm for them, interrupted by passersby delighted to see "a bride in the wild" (Madison's term) and to wish them a heartfelt blessing. At Marymere Falls, the rushing water and towering forest created an incredible backdrop for a few final portraits. The mist from the waterfall mixed with the lingering fog and soft light to create that unmistakable Pacific Northwest atmosphere.
